Why do I paint? A question I will never be able to answer – yet I also feel no need to know. When I enter the studio, I don’t always have a plan. The impulse to cover the canvas with color comes naturally, and the process reflects daily experiences and events. Everything leaves its mark, although, paradoxically, these influences must sometimes be forgotten during the act of painting: “just forget everything – and paint.”
I work abstractly, yet often integrate elements from nature. I am preoccupied with the search for beauty, even if it seems increasingly difficult to grasp. Perhaps a long journey is needed to reach it – or perhaps it exists only in imagination, in dreams. We dream in order to create a possible reality.
For me, color is essential. Painting is guided by experiment, spontaneity, and accident. Between contrast and harmony, the force of the work is born. I choose abstraction, because nothing remains unchanged – painting evolves as transformation, together with us.
