SILENT WONDERS
Love of homeland, love of Transylvania, the quiet admiration of the mountainous landscape – these are perhaps the most prominent themes in the oeuvre of Sándor Reményik. Anyone who enjoys hiking, is familiar with the landscapes of Transylvania, and is at times touched by poetry cannot remain unaffected by the spirit of Sándor Reményik. Nor can the creator hide from the influence of their surroundings – it permeates their being, imbues every work they produce.

In interwar Transylvania, intellectuals often sought refuge in nature – we may think of Lajos Áprily, Jenő Dsida, landscape painters Imre Nagy and István Nagy, or even Lucian Blaga. External and internal journeys, hikes, encounters, a telling face, a hand, or a mystical memory at dawn connect works that at first glance may appear too distant from one another. Their differences are merely formal; the message remains the same.
